Liz MullenCulinary DirectorChowgirls Catering

Liz Mullen has worked in all facets of food and hospitality for the last twenty five years. From a fine dining pastry chef, to hotel management, and now catering back home in Minneapolis. She has a love for cooking and appreciation for its possibility of endless discoveries. At Chowgirls, the standards for sourcing, commitment to sustainability, and thoughtfulness around our interactions have allowed Liz to grow a new kind of kitchen work environment. As catering halted in March 2020, Liz and the Chowgirls team started Minnesota Central Kitchen, now known as Kitchen Coalition, with Second Harvest Heartland. This is a full circle initiative that not only feeds our hungry community but also employs chefs, rescues food caught in our system, and sources locally from farmers. Last month, Kitchen Coalition reached the 5 million meal mark. This program has continued to expand and create jobs and support our local ecosystem. Liz believes that everyone should have access to healthy food. She dreams of the day we will see food waste minimized and new systems working to feed all of our neighbors. Liz continues to push for a better working environment for food service workers and a better community for all. She lives with her husband, two kids and her crazy Jack Russell, Penny.
